Corona Virus (Covid-19) Statement

Covid Update

We would like to thank our clients for their patience regarding the socially distanced provision of services and fact that they are not able to enter the practice buildings.

Whilst lockdown is beginning to ease across other sectors we are striving both to resume normal services and maintain an emergency service for your animals’ welfare and so at this current time, the decision has been made to continue to provide services which are socially distanced at 2 metres and not to allow entry into practice premises for clients at this time.

These measures are being implemented in order for us to work at the recommended social distancing within the practice and controlling the amount of ‘outside traffic’ into the building in order to reduce the risk of possible transfer of Covid19. This is necessary to reduce the risks to our staff and so continue to provide veterinary services through these difficult times.

We thank you for your continued support in this matter.

COVID19 - We are open for the welfare of your animals but please follow our guidelines below.

These are unprecedented times that are presenting challenges to everybody right across our society. We at Dalehead support the practices in place in order to control the spread of Covid19. These measures make day to day life more challenging for us all, but they are vital for the long term common good.

As a Rural Community practice, the health and welfare of our pets and farm livestock as well as our clients, staff and the people around us are our sole concern. We are making temporary changes during this period to the way we work in order to safeguard these things.

As measures are beginning to ease, we have been able to reintroduce some routine work again in both farm and companion animal practice. Disbudding and mobility scoring, using our Farm Vet Tech and assistant are now underway again, as are booster vaccinations for your pets using social distancing appointments. Our Bentham surgery is being used as a vaccination clinic in order to get all overdue vaccines up to date. Emergencies and cases which require treatment are seen at our main Settle surgery.

We are now able to offer neutering for your pets. There is a small waiting list of patients waiting for the procedure, so please contact the surgery if you would like to add your pet to this and we will contact you when appointments become available. Once again, we thank you for your patience in these difficult times.

In line with government guidelines during the Covid-19 situation we are supporting our clients and their pets with a social distancing companion animal veterinary service for urgent cases including consultations for the relief of pain and the treatment and prevention of disease. If you have a concern with your pet please telephone the surgery. We will assess need on a case-by-case basis and make youa video consultation appointment with the vet.

If necessary we can arrange a social distancing consultation at the surgery - please bring your mobile phone with you - you will remain outside the building. Home visits are not available at this time.

Please allow 48 hours (at least) notice for repeat medications.

Please ring with any queries or concerns to speak to a member of our reception team.

If you phone BEFORE 12.00, drugs will be ready for collection AFTER 3.00pm

If you phone AFTER 12.00, drugs will be ready for collection THE NEXT DAY AFTER 9.00am.

BENTHAM parcels for same day collection MUST BE PHONED IN BEFORE 12.00 for collection AFTER 6.30pm.

Farm vets are no longer based actually inside the office building, so PLEASE DO NOT go to the practice to talk to a vet! If you want to speak to a vet, phone the practice, staff will take your name and number and a vet will phone you back - this may not be immediately so please be patient.

Whilst some farm animal services can continue due to the importance of food production, the official social distancing measures of remaining 2 metres apart must be adhered to at all times. Farm vets will risk assess each situation and if handling facilities are insufficient or control measures are not upheld as per the government guidelines, work will be postponed until safe to do so. Also, if anyone is displaying symptoms associated with Covid 19 please contact the surgery to cancel the vet visit and rearrange for another time.
