  • Mr Neil Roberts

    Neil Roberts

    BVSc, Cert SHP, DBR, MRCVS graduated Liverpool 1982

    Director

    Having been born and brought up in Settle Neil has been a partner at Dalehead since 1987 working mainly in the farm animal department. He has gained further specialist qualifications in sheep health and production (Cert SHP) and a diploma in bovine reproduction (DBR).

    He is the partner with the most responsibility for drug purchasing and is always enthusiastic to work with farmers in the development of control strategies to prevent disease outbreaks through the correct, cost effective use of vaccines and other medications.

    When he isn't working Neil enjoys playing Rugby Fives, squash, cycling and running.

  • Mr John Marriott

    John Marriott

    BVetMed, MRCVS graduated London 1985

    Director

    Joined us as a new graduate staying on to later become a partner in the business. His main interests are in cattle fertility , bull fertility testing with the use of the electro-ejaculator and herd and flock planning.

    In his spare time John enjoys walking, skiing and cycling.

  • Mr Guy Bolger

    Guy Bolger

    BVSc, MRCVS, GP Cert SAP graduated Liverpool 1985

    Director

    Since graduating, Guy has worked in mixed veterinary practice, joining Dalehead in 1990. With specialisation in recent years, Guy has concentrated increasingly on small animal work and in 2004 gained the General Practitioner Certificate in Small Animal Practice.

    Guy is married with two children, dogs, cats and guinea pigs and lives in Selside. Away from work he enjoys fell walking, gardening, music, plays five a side football, coaches a junior rugby team at North Ribblesdale and when time allows plays the odd game of tennis and golf.

  • Mr Russell Howarth

    Russell Howarth

    BVSc, MRCVS graduated Bristol 1996

    Director

    Russell worked for six months in North Wales before joining Dalehead where he worked until Foot and Mouth Disease struck the area in 2001. He returned to Dalehead in 2004 where his work  is principally general cattle work with an interest in cattle fertility, especially embryo transfer which he helped to pioneer within the surgery.

    'Having recently acquired Interherd I am eager to develop a greater awareness of ‘unseen' problems on farms, in particular with regards to mastitis and fertility.'

  • Mr Ian Illingworth

    Ian Illingworth

    BVM&S, Cert CHP, DBR, MRCVS, Advanced Practitioner Cattle Health and Production, graduated Edinburgh 2003

    Director

    Ian started his career at Bainbridge Vets in Hawes where he worked for two years before moving to a farm animal only practice in Wiltshire where he worked for six years. During that time he developed his interests in all areas of farm work especially cattle health and fertility. Ian gained his certificate in Cattle Health and Production this summer and believes in preventative medicine and young stock rearing for future potential.

    In his spare time Ian enjoys playing team sports, especially rugby which he has played since he was seven and in his quieter moments he also enjoys woodcarving.

  • Mrs Karen Swindlehurst

    Karen Swindlehurst

    BVMS, MRCVS graduated Glasgow 1991

    Karen Swindlehurst (nee Reid) graduated from Glasgow in 1991 and has returned to work at Dalehead Veterinary Group, having worked here previously between 1994 and 2004.

    Karen is an experienced farm vet with special interest in herd and flock planning, health schemes and herd and flock disease monitoring. She also has a strong background in companion animal work with a keen interest in the surgical aspects of the role. 

  • Ms Lianne Young

    Lianne Young

    BVSc, MRCVS graduated Bristol 2008

    Born and bred in a small village just outside Harrogate Lianne is a genuine Yorkshire lass. After graduating from Bristol in 2008 and spending three years working in rural Lincolnshire, followed by a year travelling and working Australia she was very happy to come back to the Dales to work in Dalehead's small animal department.

    Lianne enjoy tennis, running, riding and is owned by two very boisterous Labradors - Harvey and Keith. 

  • Mrs Katie Illingworth

    Katie Illingworth

    BVM&S, Cert SAS, MRCVS, GPCert SAP, Advanced Practitioner Small Animal Surgery, graduated Edinburgh 2003

    Katie started her career in mixed practice in Bedale before working in a small animal hospital in Wiltshire for six years. She returned home to Yorkshire five years ago and is excited to be returning to work for Dalehead. She has a GP Certificate in Small Animal Practice and a Certificate in Small Animal Surgery.
    Her main interest is in surgery, especially soft tissue, but also palliative cancer care, chronic ear disease and geriatric care.
    Out of work she enjoys walking, gardening and spending time with her family. She has a Border Terrier, Saxon and a little cat, Splosh.
     

  • Miss Rebecca Howard

    Rebecca Howard

    Vet MB, MA, MRCVS graduated Cambridge 2015

    Originally from Herefordshire, Becky joins Dalehead after completing a year as a farm intern in Cambridge. She is particularly interested in beef cattle. Outside of work Becky is a keen walker, climber, runner and bog faller-inner! She is looking forward to working and living in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.

  • Miss Rebecca Frost

    Rebecca Frost

    BVSc, MRCVS graduated Liverpool 2004

    Rebecca Frost qualified in 2004 from Liverpool University and has worked in a variety of companion animal practices including three years in New Zealand. She now lives in Bentham and owns three rabbits, Babette, Bert and Lyle and also has a feisty cat Mooney who she brought back from New Zealand.

    Beccy enjoys spending her spare time outdoors in the garden or in the beautiful local countryside. Her many outdoor pursuits include mountaineering, climbing and cycling but if forced to stay indoors she does enjoy bread making, singing and playing the recorder.

  • Ms Emma Spence

    Emma Spence

    Practice Manager

    Joined us in October 2001 as a receptionist moving into the administration side of the practice in September 2003. Emma has worked in a variety of roles giving her a good all round working knowledge of the surgery and client requirements. She enjoys all aspects of her work and is a dedicated team leader putting the needs of the practice first.

    Out of work she enjoys hill walking, gardening and socialising with her friends. She has two rescue cats - Kai and Ava and two dogs, crossbreed Lucy and Border Terrier, Dexter.

  • Mrs Kate Soldado

    Kate Soldado

    Assistant Practice Manager, E-SQP

    Kate has worked at Dalehead Veterinary Group since 2006 originally as the Equine Co-Ordinator, however this role developed over time with Kate working in the accounts department and in November 2015 she became Assistant Practice Manager.

    Kate is AMTRA qualified as an E-SQP and is therefore able to give advice on prescription drugs (POM-VPS) for both companion animals and horses, for the treatment of endoparasites, ectoparasites and some fungal infections.

    Outside of work, Kate enjoys spending time with her family and riding her two Spanish horses; Granjero and Columbo.

  • Mrs Anne Carr

    Anne Carr

    Stores Manager and Farm Coordinator, L-SQP

    Anne joined the practice in January 2006 and has been responsible for running the farm department, allocating and co-ordinating work in the daybook, TB testing, and organising meetings as well as being the Stores Manager for this busy mixed practice. Anne oversees the ordering and stock control at Dalehead Veterinary Group, managing the day to day ordering and liaising with drugs companies and suppliers.

    She has an active social life being a member of a walking group, line dancing and socialising with her friends and family.

  • Miss Alison Younger

    Alison Younger

    Companion Animal Coordinator
    Having previously worked at the practice, Ally is thrilled to rejoin Dalehead as Companion Animal Co-ordinator, working closely with the team assisting in managing the companion animal department. 

    Ally is a real people person and is especially looking forward to meeting all of the clients as well as their lovely pets. She has an extensive background in management, customer service and companion animal nutrition.
    Born and bred in the Dales and coming from a sheep hill farming family, Ally feels like she is coming home. Queen of hobbies, outside work she enjoys dance, music, reading, sewing, walking, swimming and is passionate about all things 'foodie', loving to cook. She loves spending time with her family and friends and has an adorable house rabbit 'Spuggs' on whom she dotes.

  • Mrs Jessica Johnston

    Jessica Johnston

    Administrator

    Jessica has worked at Dalehead since September 2008 and is an integral member of the administrative team. Returning to work part time following the birth of her daughters, Jessica deals with the banking, booking the vet's work onto the system for invoicing, credit control and account queries.

    In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, walking her labrador George, swimming and running. 

  • Mrs Julie Craven

    Receptionist

    Julie began working for Dalehead in 2002 and whilst she has taken a couple of breaks over the years due to family commitments we are very pleased to have her back with us once again. She is a fantastic receptionist and all round member of the team. She is always warm, friendly and helpful, keeping the equilibrium in the office and an air of continuity and balance. 

    In her spare time Julie enjoys spending time with her family, socialising, running and keep fit. 

  • Miss Ruth Parker

    Ruth Parker

    Receptionist

    Joined the practice in 2012. Ruth is a born and bred 'Lancashire Lass' who crossed the Yorkshire border in 2010. She has a keen interest in farming and from a young age has helped and worked on the family farm in Goosnargh, Preston, rearing beef and fat lamb. Ruth now lives on a dairy and sheep farm in High Bentham and gets stuck into the farm work at any available moment.  Ruth is an experienced veterinary receptionist having worked in a mixed animal practice in Preston for just over five years before joining Dalehead. This gives her a good all round knowledge of the workings of a veterinary practice.

  • Mrs Elaine Kirkbride

    Elaine Kirkbride

    Receptionist

    Elaine is a local girl and has lived in the area all of her life. She joins us from an extensive background in customer service related roles and is looking forward to the hustle and bustle of the office environment. In her spare time she enjoys travelling, yoga and zumba, and reading. She owns (or is owned by) her cat T.C. O'Hooligan who rules the roost at home!

  • Miss Louise Thwaite

    Louise Thwaite

    Receptionist

    Louise joins us from an extensive background in customer care and grew up on a small dairy farm in Hellifield, recently moving to a sheep and beef farm in Long Preston with her partner. Louise has always been a keen farmer, especially at lambing time when she enjoys looking after poorly lambs, taking them under her wing and getting them back on their feet again!

    In her spare time Louise loves walking her crazy cocker spaniel Honey, socialising with her friends and spending time with her family. 

  • Mrs Karen Aspinall

    Karen Aspinall

    Receptionist

    Karen joined Dalehead in August 2006 and is the dedicated branch receptionist at Bentham providing excellent customer service and veterinary support.

    She is a bright and cheery person who is always happy to help, going above and beyond the call of duty on many occasions - we couldn’t manage without her. Karen has a working Cocker Spaniel named Henry and a rescue Saluki named Roo.

  • Mrs Katherine McNamee

    Katherine McNamee

    RVN, Head Nurse

    Katherine joined Dalehead in 1999 as a trainee nurse and after completing her training with us has risen to the role of Head Nurse. Her cheerful persona, friendly nature and enthusiasm for all things to do with veterinary nursing make her the perfect candidate for the job. Kat's main interest lies in the consultation and nurse clinic areas, building a good rapport with the clients and their animals, she also processes the companion animal insurance claims.

    Kat is a keen horsewoman and spends a good deal of her free time eventing when she not out with her labrador, Tilly.

  • Mrs Tracy Thurstan

    Tracy Thurstan

    RVN

    Joined us as a full time qualified nurse in 2001 but after starting a family she now works three full days per week. Tracy enjoys the surgical aspect of veterinary nursing and studying behavioural problems in companion animals. She has a whole host of animals at home ranging from her dog Tally pictured here to two tortoises, Tommy and Tallulah. In her spare time, Tracy enjoys camping with her family and friends.

  • Mrs Glenys Sedgwick

    Glenys Sedgwick

    RVN, R-SQP

    Glenys is originally from Hawes but spent many years in the Penrith area where she did her nurse training in a mixed rural practice. She continued to work at this practice for a number of years before marrying and moving to Burton-in-Lonsdale to be with her husband who farms in this area.

    In her spare time Glen enjoys hill walking with her dog,spending time on the farm and generally being outdoors.

  • Mrs Anna Ashworth

    Anna Ashworth

    RVN, R-SQP, Vet Tech

    Anna qualified as an RVN in 2010, spending time backpacking around Thailand, Australia and New Zealand before returning to work in mixed practice. Anna enjoys nursing care of the hospitalised patient and is particularly interested in internal medicine, pharmacology and laboratory diagnostics.

    She attained her AMTRA R-SQP status in 2017 gaining straight A's in all her exams. An SQP, or animal medicines advisor, is a category of professionally qualified persons who are entitled to prescribe and/or supply certain veterinary medicines under the Veterinary Medicines Regulations. 

    Away from work Anna farms sheep with her partner Michael and enjoys taking her border collie Molly for walks in the local countryside - she is also keen on baking and jam making.

  • Miss Lizzy Elliott

    Lizzy Elliott

    Veterinary Nursing Assistant

    Lizzy has a strong background in animal care and is passionate about animal welfare. She is currently training to become a qualified veterinary nurse.

    In her spare time, Lizzy enjoys tending her small flock of Texel sheep, horse riding, walking with her dogs and caring for the various family pets.

  • Ms Natalie Pattinson

    Natalie Pattinson

    RVN

    Natalie qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2016 and joined Dalehead in March 2017. She enjoys all aspects of the role but especially  inpatient care, feline patients, critical care and laboratory work.

    In her spare time Natalie enjoys walks with her beautiful Gordon Setter, Eva and immersing herself in television crime series.
